Motorcyclist Rear-Ended by a Drunk Driver
What Happened
On a December evening in 2020, our client was stopped at a red light on his motorcycle in Palm Beach County when a pickup truck slammed into him from behind. The driver was drunk. The impact threw our client from the motorcycle, and the truck ran over his right leg.
Instead of stopping, the driver fled, dragging the motorcycle, still pinned to the front of his truck, for more than 2,000 feet.
The Injuries
Our client suffered severe fractures to his right leg and ankle. He underwent surgery to repair them with plates and screws and faces more surgery in the future.
The Trial
The case was tried before a Palm Beach County jury in April 2026. The defendant chose not to appear. Over two days, our trial team presented the evidence of what the defendant did that night and what it has cost our client.
On April 8, 2026, the jury returned a verdict of $40 million: $10 million in compensatory damages for our client's injuries and $30 million in punitive damages to punish the defendant for driving drunk and to deter others from doing the same. The court entered final judgment on the verdict.
The case was tried jointly by Daniel Iscoe of Iscoe Law Firm and Diego C. Asencio of Diego C. Asencio, P.A., working side by side as co-counsel.
